Could we add a "Viewing Pane" similar to Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, or the new Yahoo Mail (currently in beta) for products? Basically, it will:

1. When an admin selects a product, the node will load in the Viewing Pane instead of jumping to another page
2. It should also allow admins to edit and update directly in the pane, without jumping to different pages

This would be a huge time saver. Maybe it should be implemented for other node types as well?

I would look at this as a core feature (ie. emphasis on node preview). Otherwise, if anyone pursues this, it will likely be for a commercial job. Another issue is that the loading of a node is quite an expensive process, it's not just showing some text like the web-based mail readers do.
