I made this site awhile ago when I was all excited to be a new webmaster. It isn't updated very regularly like I'd want it to be but I'm TRYING to get ideas for my other "projects" going.

I had a BAD spambot problem awhile ago and am still wondering how to fix that.

Its based off the Meta Theme and I still don't have the photo gallery working like it should.

I'm wonder any feedback anyone would like to give me. I'm not sure it shows up that well in all browsers or not, I use Firefox so I generally only care about that and I don't care about IE much if it shows up half-a$$ decent.

Any comments or suggestions let me know.

I should alos note that this is my first REAL attempt at altering a drupal theme and first real thing I've done with drupal. I am by no means a pro. I did edit a number of things though and am fairly proud even though its not 100% polished.

Design-wise, the title font is somewhat obscured by the monster in the background. And I believe one of the wysiwyg editor modules may feature a spell-checker, you may wish to install that ;-)

I've been wondering what color to change that font to...

I should toy with that more.. maybe white? But white doesn't work with that one set I have..

Design can be a tricky thing. It is worth getting it "look right" in Photoshop before implementing in xhtml.

You may wish to firm up ideas of content, though - I think that may be your biggest problem. If you want to attract a wider audience (ie people you don't know) then random ruminations may not be sufficient to pull a crowd. Pick a topic you know very well, and then start on that. The audience will turn up if it it is good enough (check with a log analyser).

hm.. I had a feeling this may have happened...

I had a bad spam problem and was trying to fix it and banned some addresses.. I thought maybe their IP would block just them but I couldn't know for sure. I banned that IP thinking it was a spambot, but I will unban it.

holy crap..

I'm trying to unban the IP and I should've throttled the site before I posted... Anyone else getting really slow load? I really should switch hosts..

Anyone know how to test bandwidth capacity(speed test a site)?? I have a feeling my sites throughput is crap..

Search for and install the Akismet module. It will make all your spam problems go away.

banning spam ips only work, when you can guarantee they are actually using the address you see and not spoofing their ip address. most hardcore spammers, dont use their own IP. why would they ? : )

just something to keep in mind, when you consider banning by IP.

I'm going to be working on unbanning IP's.

I've also been thinking about taking the site down and focusing all my work into one domain and spread that domain out instead of scatterbraining my stuff around. I am but one person, why do I need two domains?

add the akismet module to your installation to cut back dramatically on spam. this module also allows uers to flag content as spam, which puts it into moderation until you tell the system is spam ghead and delete or its ham put it back.
