Using Drupal, the Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism at the University of Southern California(USC) has built the Annenberg Social News Platform (ASNP), designed specifically for the news publishing needs of tomorrow.
I have posted a case study at http://drupal.org/node/905766 (Note: The showcase post has several images that have been uploaded but they are not currently visible on the post due to a pending support request at http://drupal.org/node/905792 )
This case study will make a valuable addition to Drupal.org's front page as well as the Showcase section as it describes how to use Drupal to provide a model social news system for use by other educational institutions (and perhaps news publishing organizations) to teach journalism and communications.
USC Annenberg is widely recognized in the Communications industry as a center for discussion among scholars and professionals in journalism, communication, public policy, media, and education. Annenberg's selection of Drupal as the chosen CMS platform upon which to build the next-generation of journalism web infrastructure is a testimonial to Drupal's stability and power.

avpadernoThe showcase doesn't report the reason why some modules have been chosen instead of others, nor because Drupal has been chosen to built the website.
As it is now, the showcase doesn't seem to be a valid showcase for the front page.

chavan commented1. I have added a section on why we selected Drupal
2. Added text explaining why key modules were chosen
3. Simplified some HTML
4. Replaced with new smaller images uploaded to http://drupal.org/node/905792 and using a format similar to that used by other already-published Drupal case studies. ( I cannot check how it actually displays when the images show up but hopefully it should display correctly. )
5. Removed section numbers to match formatting used by previous Drupal case studies.
Please review and let me know if you have any suggestions for improvements.
Thanks!

gdemetI've reviewed the copy and enabled the images. This gets a big +1 from me, and once another site maintainer/webmaster weighs in with another +1, I'd be more than happy to add this to the schedule for promotion.

silverwing commentedMy main issue is with Internet Explorer and the site - the font is very 1995.
Otherwise, +1
