Case Study: Green Cab of Madison

Green Cab is an eco-friendly taxicab service. It is the newest taxicab company in Madison WI with Madison’s first all hybrid taxi fleet! Green Cab is a full service, shared ride taxi service. They provide alternative public passenger transportation to all of Madison, Dane County and beyond. Equipped with new Toyota Priuses, Green Cab plans to be the new green transportation option for the people of Madison.

Recently, Green Cab hired Promet Source to re-vamp its website using the Drupal platform. Taking less than two months, Promet Source was able to use Drupal to create a new, user-friendly web site to bring continued success to Green Cab.

Why was Drupal chosen?

• Open Source - As an open source platform, Drupal integrates with the green initiative of Green Cab
• SEO - Green Cab needed to increase its search ranking and Drupal makes it extremely easy to integrate the important SEO tools into websites
• Theming – A main change Green Cab wanted Promet Source to implement was to enhance the look and feel of their site. Drupal makes it easy for themers to design and change the look and feel of sites.
• Social Media - Because Green Cab plans on targeting customers who do not typically use taxis, the ability to make their site highly accessible through social media was hard to resist
• Modules – The availability and diversity of the modules allows Green Cab to constantly enhance the functionality of the site
• Maintenance – The website will have a constant resource in the Drupal community through new modules and updates

Design

Green Cab is very energy focused and wanted to present an efficient, green product message. Fresh colors, such as blues and greens, were used to give a clean green impression. The grid layout was created to be open to give the idea of being atmospheric with clean air and lower emissions.

The main navigation, logo, and main lead-in banner were integrated together to create the open space and to give a scenic representation of the Madison skyline. The Green Cab vehicles are also prominently displayed to help increase recognition of the Green Cab brand.

Throughout the site, the main navigation remains at the top of the page to continue with the open-space feel, and the look and feel of the homepage continues throughout the rest of the site.
