Problem occurs when for example the same content type is available on the main site and within the organic groups. If a user is subscribed to a type main site, they get notifications when that type is posted within any OG even if they are not a member..

I can verify that this issue exists also on one of my sites. Any clues as to where to look for the problem in the code?

This error appears to only be happening after I upgraded my entire site (core + contrib) recently. My previous version of the site did not exhibit this error. The OG and Notifications versions were unchanged, but Drupal core was 6.17, now 6.19. I upgraded plenty of other contrib modules at that time though, if that's relevant.
