Deployment process for clients.

Hey all,

Is there a preferred or "best-practice" way to package up a Drupal site and deliver it to a customer for them to deploy on their own machines?

Usually, I have admin access to a clients machine and I would just compress the database and Drupal site, the extract on the clients machine. But now I need to be able to give them a sort of 'package' of Drupal for them to take from either a download or thumbdrive and they deploy on their own. The Drupal site would be customized and such for them already in a sort-of default format.
