Description of your module seems very similar to Sections module (http://drupal.org/project/sections).

Can you provide any sort of comparison?

For someone stopping by your module page why would they choose yours over sections (keeping in mind that Sections seems to be much older and maintained since 2005 or so)?

Subsites' focus is in the "menu" integration, nodes integration. It'll never be as generic as sections or context. It is developed to be easily usable and understandable to webmasters and content editors who don't know the ins and outs of Drupal.
