I've posted about this before but didn't know enough to get the help I needed.
Not sure I do now either.

The problem is that it seems the comment paging is broken on my site.
If a comment is located on a topic's first page everything works fine.
example: http://www.siegetheday.org/?q=node/551#comment-5970

But if the comment is located on a page beyond the first I end up on the topic's first page.
example: http://www.siegetheday.org/?q=node/317#comment-5972

The id:s for the comments does match the links.

It is as if the paging part of Drupal miscalculates and doesn't find the page it should go to and instead defaults to the first.
I have been told elsewhere that this is a bug with Drupal Core but I haven't been able to find the issue for it. I tried posting a support issue about it but didn't understand how things worked so it quickly sank to the bottom. :)

I have found something I think is a clue but I'm not sure. When I started the site I imported a bunch of content from a phpBB forum to Drupal 4.7 using the phpBB2drupal module. Well in the handbooks I found this: Fix Comment Count.

You have used a script to import some nodes and their comments, but the 'x comments' link under each node has not been updated.

Now that I think about it it doesn't seem like it will be helpful to my case. Problem is that my understanding of the english language isn't what it should be so I'm not sure. Could anyone advice me on this?

To summarize:
I need help figuring out why I end up on a topic's first page and not the page with the comment I was going to.
I have imported most of my content from a previous forum namely phpBB which might have messed things up, although I don't know how to verfiy that.
And I need help with where I go from here to fix it.

I should point out that the members of my community are a bit fed up with this so I'm hoping someone out there can and will help me.

I had a slight copy+paste accident in the above post..

The second link should be: http://www.siegetheday.org/?q=node/317#comment-5972 and should take you to page 5 if the paging worked.

I found a problem that I think is related. After making a post I end up on a topic's first page and post if there are more than one. If there is only one page I end up at the comment I just posted, the "#comment-x" part of the url works.

Any ideas what could be causing this and how I can fix it?

Sorry if I seem to nag but this problem is really taxing.
