Well, the Nutch search engine integration module, plus OpenSearch Client, are two keys to fulfilling your feature request. There are many great offerings in the field of search, but if you want to run your own search engine via Drupal, this module is worth consideration.

Do you have any specific feature requests for this module? I'm closing the issue to keep the queue clean.
