Finally my new site is "finished": http://uusitupa.org. The base installation is Acquia Drupal. Drupal was an obvious choice, because of it's flexibility and great amount of contributed modules available.
The site has been done by using contributed modules from drupal.org, no custom modules were needed. Theme is made entirely by me.
Here is the list of most important modules:
- CCK, ImageField + Image Cache, Node Reference
- Views
- Path auto and Custom Breadcrumbs
- Taxonomy and NAT
In addition to these, there are like 30 other contributed modules used. It could be better for performance to do more with custom modules, but I wanted to try, what I can achieve with contributed modules.
The site is also my playground for testing new things. For example, the theme uses a lot of css3 effects, which causes a little bit limited support for Internet Explorer. Site should work fine with every major (relatively new) browsers, but IE lacks some kind of effects (like rounded corners and box shadows). Theme should scale to mobile platforms also (like the iPhone), but there is still lot of optimizations to be done in that area.
Any comments are welcome!
