Hi
I tried it yesterday with CSV file and there was an error with it but it's now fixed.
What I don't understand is how the importer and GVI module will interact. I tested it on this site http://www.dataviz.org/admin/content/vidi/chose_visualization_type(which is the amazing site) and it gave me option like once you imported your data, you display your data into any Chart you want.
My main usage is to let users import the data and let it display in any Chart type they want. If possible could you please give me a guideline to achieve the current feature like your demo site.
Thanks
Hlan

kartelusm commentedBasically you will need the VIDi module installed. It is still waiting for an approval, but you can get it here:
#852682: obojan [obojan].
If you like it, feel free to encourage the reviewer to author it.
This module will add a little checkbox in the importer (the final step just before the SQL is executed) where it asks the user if he/she wants the newly created table to be available to the VIDI module for visualization. If it's checked, once you go to the VIDI module link, user will have the chance to choose the table he/she created for any kind of visualization.
Glad you like the site.
Cheers,
Nikola

hlan commentedOne last question. So is that mean whenever user import the data successfully, one sql table will be created on Mysql database? If it happens like that, there'll be thousands of tables for community site with many importing then. Am I right? Don't you think it will even cripple the servers and bring down to its knees?
Please correct if my understanding is wrong.
Thanks in advance,
Hlan

kartelusm commentedThe much greater bottleneck for a database is a number of records per table then a number of tables per database. The whole purpose of the importer module is to create tables an fill them with data. If administered right (and of course not everyone should have the privilege to create database tables), there should be no problems.
