Another CMS I toyed with had the ability to send a newsletter of current articles to subscribers.

It would be great if someone could code a module or include this feature in an upcoming version of Drupal. I'm envisioning a means of sending the last XX [administrator defined number] of stories to subscribers every YY [administrator defined time period] with an option of letting the subscribed user disable this feature from their "my accounts" page.

If someone has some free time and is looking for a project, feel free to harvest this idea.

Mmmmh, must be some zeitgeist kind of thing, this is exactly what I'm working on:

Good news is I'm in the final stages of development.

Last task I need to complete is handling incoming email, bounce backs and Unsubscribe requests.

I still need to do user tracking, but that's just icing on the cake.

This sounds exactly like what I was hoping to find. Please let me know if you would like another beta tester and/or when it is available.

Status of the module is that I have almost everything done except handling incoming email, which is what I'm working on at the moment.

Incoming email is important for bounce back email handling, so we can stop sending email to dead addresses, maybe alert users in some other way that their email address is not functioning. I would also like to provide an option to unsubscribe by replying to the newsletter with the word "UNSUBSCRIBE" in the Subject line.

I'll just get this last bit done, then I'll release the module as a beta next week.

Register on my site if you want, so that I know who you are, and I'll email you once it's ready.

Will definitely appreciate any help with coding or testing.

I've registered. Honestly, I couldnt code my way out of a wet paper bag, but I can and will be testing the module extensively.

I'm also very excited about this module, I've registered on you site at 'nik' and would love to hear about it. I would also be happy to help test the module.
