Finally made it to the official 1.0 release. Yay! There have been a couple new features since RC2, but it is functionally the same. So, if you are using the RC2 version, there is *no reason to upgrade* at this time!
The module now optionally supports the Libraries API module, which makes it easier to upgrade since this module makes use of an external library (jQuery MD5). Special thanks to perusio (issue: #888836: Patch to support libraries API and more.).
Instructions on how to install and use the Libraries API module with Safer Login are in the README.txt file, and on the handbook page: http://drupal.org/node/890100.
To make it clear: use of the Libraries API module is *optional*, and upgrading from RC2 at this time is not required since the two versions are functionally the same.
