Improving Lightbox2 and Image Module Interaction

I've recently setup the lightbox2 module and it's really great for fixed width sites. There have been a few issues with the image module integration, ones that I cannot alter; however, if they were improved, it would be a great contribution to the module.

Lightbox2 integrates with the image module to an extent, but several key areas of the image nodes are not updated. At the bottom of the node, the links to other sizes of that image do not use the lightbox. Also, the preview image does not use the lightbox to expand the original size of the image. Since these links do not use the lightbox, the benefit to fixed width sites is impacted greatly, in a negative way.

Unfortunately, I cannot do the work to improve this myself as I am not a PHP programmer. What I am hoping is that someone capable, who has interest in the improvement of this module, will be able to step up and clean up these minor issues to make the image module integration much richer. Adding the lightbox to the image size links as well as the preview image shown in the node would be all that is necessary.

One other issue involves the image galleries integration. When looking at the list of galleries (not a list of images in a gallery), clicking on the image will launch the lightbox; this isn't very desirable as the image is meant to act as a representation of that gallery, not a link to the specific image shown. A fix for this issue would be great to see as well.

I'm not sure if it would be best to approach these issues via the module's code or include an image.tpl.php file with it. I'm just hoping that it can be addressed in some way and soon, this module is my only hope to get the images on my site to a state worth viewing - they currently get cut in half thanks to the fixed width nature of the site.
