This could be a nice touch, not only for imagecache but for the Imagecache actions , like putting a border or rounded corners. Its not priority and maybe i can work some code.

I just modified the last version of the module to use the ImageCache module, is not a perfect solution and it will only work if imagecache is active. Also you need to unnistall the active version of Bagdes if you want to use this fork. But it works! You can see an example of the module here www.iasoftgroup.com/xeno/content/xelos-el-bot
