Description

It would be wonderful if Drupal's normal "search" function would be expanded to allow a user to be able to choose which part of Drupal they wanted to search, similar to the search function that is used for "Issues".

Drupal has a very large site! It would be very helpful to be able to limit a search to a particilar area of the site. For example, a new user would find it very helpful to be able to limit a search term to the "handbook" area. Then if they didn't find an anwer, be able to search the forums.

It would also increase usability, if the user were allowed to choose how the result is displayed (weighted or date order). When searching for information I would prefer to see date ordered information so that I don't have to go through pages of results to find the most recent information.

Wouldn't this help with server response time because the server wouldn't need to search all areas at once?

Wait, this isn't possible now? If you go here : http://drupal.org/search/node

...and click on advanced search you can specify the part of drupal you want to search.

Marking as fixed. will mark as closed in a week.
