I'm getting this with error with the flexinode image:

warning: imagegif() [function.imagegif]: Unable to open 'files/DOCSWEB-4_th.gif' for writing in /home/searcyc/public_html/includes/image.inc on line 300.

What permissions do I need for images? The rights are 755, though I thought all files should be 644. And what's the ownership - 'nobody'?

And i'm getting this error even if I don't make any changes. If I just click the edit tab and submit, i get this error.

Does any other image system on your Drupal site work properly, like avatars?

Closing this. Flexinode image field has a chack now, so in failure database won't be currpted.
This is an issue with the general server set-up, not with imagefield, not even with Drupal itself.
