Hi, I've seen this a number of times now. After the teacher grades an assignment using the (wonderfully convenient!) form beneath a student's submission, the grade is not showing in the gradebook. Please see the attachment. Although the system is apparently aware that a grade has been submitted, it does not show that grade in the summary numbers on /group/gradebook;
surprisingly, although I chose to allow students only one try and also chose a scale, the grade box is empty and there is a box in which to record a percentage.

MGN commentedMoving this to the gradebook issue queue...
What options have you selected for grading responses on the settings tab for the gradebook. If "Do not use response scores in calculating the assignment grade" is selected, then you will get the behavior you describe. If you want to use the response grade in the gradebook, choose one one of the other grading options like "Use the score from the first submitted response for the assignment grade."

IKN commentedOk. Thank you for your response. I'm trying it out. So far, no difference. I _thought_ I had chosen the "highest" score setting. I went back and it wasn't selected. So, I selected it again. But the choices are somewhat confusing to me: which setting goes with wanting to allow only one response?
__Do not use response scores in calculating the assignment grade
__Use the highest response score for the assignment grade
__Use the mean response score for the assignment grade
__Use the score from the first submitted response for the assignment grade
__Use the score from the most recent submitted response for the assignment grade
The last two seem likely.
Anyway, I'll report back. Have to go out. I submitted a new assignment and a student response and got the same behavior. I hope I'm wrong.

IKN commentedOk. It's working following your suggestion that I set it to use the first submitted grade. Thank you for your help. (See screenshot.)
My question about the options stands as a comment, I guess: it might, in my opinion, be useful just to add a comment to the choices: If allowing only one response, use first response. If allowing more than one response, use another.

MGN commentedIt looks like this issue can be closed. I see the ambiguity with the options if only one response is allowed, and I will look into updating the documentation for that.
