One major problem with wibiya toolbar is that it does not respect privacy of posts.
This is not Wibiya's fault per se, but it's a big enough problem for me to consider removing it and replicating the functionality using other Drupal modules.
So for example it encourages users to tweet or like on facebook content that is not accessible to anonymous users, and displays the titles of private posts in the whos.amung.us live stats. Not Good.
Cheers,
Tobias

ClearXS commentedHi Tobias, I just wanted to file a similar issue, so we are on the same line.
As I'm working on an Independent Media project, I can't use the module either as it has direct contact with the visitors of a supposed to be anonymous no-IPlog Independent Media site. With other words: it is logging my visitors IP's for their political activities what can be abused.
Best is if such a Drupal toolbar is basically independent from Wibiya and caches/proxies the communication with external servers like Wibiya (Facebook, Twitter a.s.o.), instead of directly.
Probably something like this goes way beyond the objectives and even more beyond the available time of the developer here... But maybe with some more capable developers this can be done; here or as another Proxy_Cache module..?
If not, then I'm thinking of making 2 highly integrated Drupal sites (two databases, same installation, two domainnames); one is the Independent Media and the other the Social Site. People who have no reason to hide their IP and privacy about their political activities, could then go through to the social site after receiving a warning.

tobias commentedThanks ClearXS - I have decided to turn my wibiya toolbar off completely for the time being while I decide what to do. It may be that the benefits we get from Wibiya are small enough enough it's not worth the privacy risk to Kabissa members.
Cheers,
Tobias
