So instead of --Select-- they can add other wording there.
Our client for example wanted it to say 'quick links'.

I can test it further if needed but I do not have cvs commit rights etc.

Would it be possible to make the default option a setting for each quickmenu block, so that each menu item has its own default option...#756790: Ability to set the default option per quickmenu block sort of makes the default option the menu title which is a bit more flexible.

Did you have a chance yet to see if a patch could be made on a per block basis?

Also, in the above patch, it appears you have a spelling mistake. Not a big deal:
