I am using user points and ubercart, so that the user can shop with the user points.
The total of available user points is displayed to the user when he checks out,
but even once the purchase is completed and status is "Payment received" the total number of user points for that user remains unchanged.
How can I make sure the total number of user points will gets updated?

Hi,
There is a bug in the module if you set the filed called "Store Credits used in discount" in fractions like 0.1 then on the checkout page it shows zero as available credit, However if you set the value as an integer it works fines. Hopefully it deducts the points too.

Ubercart Conditonal Actions for update user points
Ubecart conditional actions module is suitable for your process. This is in-bulit module in ubercart.
You have to use ubercart and user-points related to ubercart modules in drupal.
After that, you have to add conditonal action for your product.
set trigger is complete the checkout
set conditon (ex: order get updated). you can set suitable condition for this action
set action is add user points to the corresponding user.
so after checkout user points will be updated.
condtional actions set- but no update
great advice!
i've set these conditional actions as you have outlined, but after the payment between buyer and seller with points, although the buyer's account is deducted the purchase points, the seller's account says it had been awarded the points, but the account balance is unchanged.
have you seen this? if so, have i perhaps missed something?
thanks again for your great ideas!
