Component as Views Display?

While this is a very cool and very useful module, there are a pair of issues that made me less than comfortable having it on my site. Firstly, the URLs it produces are somewhat awkward- which no one usually notices, but isn't great for usability and SEO. Secondly, enabling the module 'component-izes' every single block, node and view on the site- exposing everything to being shown outside of context and without the site's theming makes my inner control-freak sad.

These are both very minor issues, but they could be fixed by creating a 'Component' Views Display. This way, only the views I want to expose are exposed, at the URLs I choose, and I can use Filters and Permissions to control what content gets exposed to whom.

I've been working on some code for this, for my own amusement- is this something anyone else is interested in, or is it just reinventing the wheel?
