Garland vs. Tables

Description

Basically, Garland is forcing my tables to be 100%, and commenting out that line in Garland's CSS didn't seem to stop it. I use tables for a few things that I don't want to be full width... it just looks silly when its spread out. And for other tables, they're appearing 100% wide and messing things up. (Example: with the LMPaypal module installed, it adds a table to the top of the profile view... since this is now 100% wide, it's bleeding over on top of the profile picture.)

I don't know why the theme should cause this to happen... seems like either a bug or a weird "feature." Even if this won't get changed in core, I'd love to know how to stop it from happening, as it's ruining a couple custom widgets on my site. : )

(Perhaps this is forcing divs to be wide as well? I'm really stumped... also, this is affecting using Flatforum with Garland, as the divs for the poster information are being widened so my head is floating in the middle of the page. : ) In fact, Flatforum isn't working at all, and I'm really not sure why. It works mighty fine with the Bluemarine theme.)

Well, anyone using Garland can see. I have it set so users at ubercart.org can choose to use Garland if they want. So you'd have to create an account there and then look at your profile to see the table there or browse to http://www.ubercart.org/uberlearn/ubrowser and click a button to display the uBrowser. The select boxes should be right next to each other, b/c it's just a barebones table, but they get spread out. This is true with any table in Garland, though... I noticed it while customizing a new installation at http://ryan.grinhost.net.

100% width tables is part of the design of the theme.
Unfortunately, no theme can suit everyones tastes and needs. If you don't like the way Garland handles tables, you may edit the CSS to suit your own needs.

Aye, understanding it's by design, I'd like to question that and argue against it. That seems to "break" more than it fixes...
