Is there any facility for auto-renewing a node?

I'm planning on using this module along with userpoints node action to allow users to pay in userpoints to post a piece of content.
Ideally it would be possible for the users to be able to choose to 'auto renew' their node at the point of expiration (possibly via a checkbox on the node edit form). If they had chosen to auto-renew then when a node was up for expiration the required amount of userpoints would be deducted and the expiration would be postponed. If they did not have enough userpoints the node would expire anyway.

Is something like this currently possible? Perhaps with some clever application of rules?
If it isn't, is there any chance of this making it as a feature?
