I'm running a fresh install of Drupal 6.19 and would like to get some keywords into my pages. The returns from various searches suggest that the nodewords module is the way to go. I've downloaded it, installed it and enabled it - all successfully (or at least, without any error messages).
I now have

  • Nodewords
  • Nodewords - extra meta tags
  • Nodewords - site verification meta tags

visible and enabled under the Administer->site building.>modules menu.
Updating an existing page shows up a new Meta tags set of fields - including a Description and Keywords fields.
I've added some keywords and a description and saved the page. (I also made a few minor alterations tot he page's text). Reloading the page shows my minor alterations, but looking at the page source, there are no keywords or description meta tags in the HEAD section.
Digging deeper into the nodewords configuration settings page - it claims I can add things like Google's webmaster tools verification - although this option never appeared on the page I tried nodewords out on.
As an act of desperation, I read the installation instructions in the nodewords README file. The configuration section seems to me to describe something else completely! For example, it tells me to go to the access control administration page ("Administer >> User management >> Access control"). This page simply doesn't exist in my Drupal 6 menu, proof is at the screenshot here:

Back to the host page for Nodewords, there seem to be loads of bugs, patches and critical issues listed. Given that I couldn't get it to do what it says it would, that the configuration instructions don't match the version and the module appears so buggy, is there any chance of me getting it to work, or should I look for a better written module that is easier to use?

If you have got nodewords to work on drupal-6, I'd appreciate it if you could tell me how.

    Pete

I'm not an expert on the Nodewords module but here they are referring to the Permissions you need to set. Go to "Administer >> User Management >> Permissions" to choose the permissions you want to set for the Nodewords module (and various tags listed below the module).
