Creating a panel as a node

I too would like to be able to add panel pages to my book outline (which I'm using for site nav). Is this feature being considered for Panels 2?

In order to do this, a panel must be a node.

This feature will be a part of Panels 2. Unfortunately, it's going to be part of the second release of panels 2.

merlin, does "the second release" refer to the beta release of Panels 2 or some later release? Any idea on the timeline for this feature? Thanks again for all your work on this module. Panels 2 is looking great!

Yea, probably either the beta or one of the later alphas. I have a basic start on the panels-node module. It'll be much simpler than the panel-page (by not including any of the menu or access control options) but it's a like-to-have that's not as high of a priority as getting the display API tweaked into where it needs to be.

FYI it is a project that another developer could easily start to work on, should someone want to.

Thanks for the update, Merlin. I'm afraid I don't have the expertise to help out with the development of this, but I'll certainly keep on testing new alpha and beta releases as they come out. I've already gotten good feedback from a site admin on the new Panels 2 interface.

I'll also test your next versions, but for now I need to make a node and wrap it around the panel (as you told me in http://drupal.org/node/148136). Do you have any advice to implement this?

I just checked in panels_node.module in Panels 2!

It'll go out in the -dev version in about an hour when that is rerolled, and will be in alpha6, when I release that.
