Hi,

first I'm new on Drupal and CMS. I'm searching for an environment which could easily used to realise my website.
First I thought about Joomla! but I got a hint, that drupal may be the better solution.

I'd like to build a community-website to one specific theme (e.g. a special product).
On this website should be a part with general information (classical editet by myself), links, a forum.
And additional there will be some subareas of this theme (e.g. the different brands of the products). To each of this subarea a user should be able to write a blog which can be read by everyone and other users could comment.

E.g:
General Information about the product, the brands (headquarter, ..) and links to their websites and maybe to some additional like where to buy....
A Forum to Discuss about the brands.

And a blog for users who uses this product. Like:
2010-10-03: First problems occur. The product does not start anymore
...
2010-04-24: I'm soo happy that I bought this product. It's great...
...
2009-09-21: Bought this product. Paid xxx $

OK - this is possibly a awful example but there wasn't another one come to my mind.

Is this possible to create with drupal?
Is Drupal the best solution therefor?
If yes - should I wait til Drupal 7?

What you ask for is very easy to do in Drupal. If you need your site done quick, I'd start now with Drupal 6. You can also try Drupal Gardens, which runs now on Drupal 7. Built a site there, export it later.

The best is if you start with a local test install, there are really simple solution that do not require you as just to follow the instruction step by step.

When you get a bit confident you may take a look at some installation profiles that are very easy to implement in your test environment for getting more skilled
and find the best solution or most suited configuration for you needs:
