It would be useful to lock down user accounts too -- eg during data migration.

Thanks v much - the dev version (downloaded today on 16th dec 2010) fixes this issue for me, and makes this module perfect!

Might just mention that if you have RO mode enabled (and no "read-only message" set) when you upgrade from 6.x-1.0 to 6.x-1.x-dev, then when non-root users login and click edit on their profiles, they will get a WSOD. Solution was to go to the Site Maintenance page and set a "read-only message" and click save (the message has become compulsory in the latest version).
