Many of the views and content types use manual overrides to not break existing Atrium features.

Features Override http://drupal.org/project/features_override allows you to do just that.

I intend to migrate to it when I have time between classes and activism. This will be a good opportunity to test out the module and put it through it's paces. And if the experiment is a success, it is easier to maintain a Features Export than it is to maintain a long array of tweaks.
