To what extend does this mean that this module offers at least the same (and probably extended) functionality?
If the functionality (partly) overlaps both modules, why?

They dont overlap, please compare the feature list on both of the projects pages. It originated there, as earlier versions of comment_edited had features that did not not quite belong there, they were moved to advanced comment.

Thx for clarifying that the modules have different/ non-overlapping functions (even though the code base used to be the same once). To avoid confusion, I suggest replacing aforementioned quote (on the project webpage) with something similar to what you posted in this topic. After having considered this suggestion, please feel free to close the status of this issue again.
