I am using this module in concert with the Shorten URLs module, and it works great for shortening url's with the branded domain before they are sent to Identi.ca via the Twitter module. I would like to be ale to get to the service to automatically shorten urls for a statusnet installation. Is there an "API endpoint"? or do I need to switch over to the ShURLy module?

The purpose of this module is very clearly stated in its description: "This module is a developer tool that takes URL of any length and produces very short URLs (3-5 characters). It has no user-interface at this point."

It does that, exactly that and nothing but that. If you want it to do something new, you will have to propose a more detailed description of what you want it to do. If it makes sense and there's a secure way to implement it - it can be considered for implementation.

My question is: Is there an API endpoint URL? Your module provides an api that other modules or developers can implement to shorten urls, is there a way to allow access to that api via a url so that it can be accessed remotely by another application?

No.
