First of all, thanks for your work on this module!

I have a few suggestions and feature requests pertaining to usability. Actually, one is not very usability related - when you update this module, please change the package name, perhaps to something pertaining to either Email or Marketing. And please add a simple hook_help - it's easy to miss the link to the subscription page for example.

But my main request is please add theme functions to the module. I think at least the subscription page needs this to help meet the needs of customization for a specific site. For example, for logged in users, I noticed the newsletter subscription is printed after the checkbox, whereas for anonymous users the description is printed before the form fields. Theme functions would help allow site owners / developers to customize the display to match their specific needs.

And I think this would really help to extend the module.

I agree with the theme functions and have change the module name and version to reflect that.

I was very surprised not to find any theme functions in the 7.x rewrite of the module. This seems like a HUGE oversight as there's no way to override the layout of the list forms at the theme layer.

“And now our watch [for support of the 7.x-2.x version of the MailChimp module] has ended…” With the approaching deprecation of MailChimp’s API version 2.0, I’m sad to say we too must turn the page. This branch will become unsupported in early October and officially deprecated by the end of this year (2016).

Fret not! The 7.x-4.x and 8.x versions come highly recommended. Both are using Mailchimp’s new API 3.0 and are being actively maintained. If you find this issue still exists on either the 7.x-4.x or 8.x branches, let us know by opening a new ticket. “What is dead may never die, but rises again, harder and stronger!”
