DLs look rubbish with this theme because the reset.css kills their margins but doesn't go on to add any more styling.

Yes, that is the point actually. You'll see that subthemes of Tao (like Rubik) provide their own styling.

I'm a few versions behind on Open Atrium, so this may have been fixed since -- but on Open Atrium, DLs are unusable.

Hence a bug in Ginkgo?

I don't know what DL stands for, but subthemes should come after the rest. The reset is currently overwriting the subthemes.
