I did the steps described in the documentation, set some description text for my domains, but it just don't work. There's no meta data added to the html..

What do I need to do to get this work?

The Nodewords - basic meta tags component is needed to actually generate the tags (keywords and description), even though it's not listed as a required component. The Nodewords base module alone only provides the admin form and database tables.
