Can anyone please give a brief intro as to what this module can do. can it setup a chat room as well as enable 1 to 1 chat?
does it work for 4.7? as install file mentions it works only for 4.6 etc

any answer will be greatly appreciated

Hi Manuj. The module allows you to have one to one chatting as well as a chatroom. It allows you to do anything you can do through Jabber. You need to have JWChat running and a jabber server you can point to (though you may be able to use publicly available ones for this, I don't remember) for these things to work.

And yes, it does work in 4.7 - I think the install instructions just hadn't been updated.

Can you please point me in the right direction for how can a jabber server be setup to make sure it works well with drupal.

This project has now been taken over by new maintainers. The D6 version is now available as of this morning, and the D7 will be available soon.
