Customized forums

Coulee Region forums D6 2.x
[This is Michelle's site and is no longer active. Will try to put up a demo of it at some point.]
Green and light grey with custom icons but otherwise very similar to the Blue Lagoon style. Taxonomy image was used and the folder icons removed to give a unique image for each forum. The author pane was trimmed down to reduce scrolling. Custom code to print the role name as a title instead of using User Titles.

Energy-Models.com D6 2.x
Custom icons, node comments so that search is enabled, a custom ckeditor to look a little bit like stackoverflows w/ image insert available. Vote up/down for forum topics. Apache solr more like this block to generate related forum topics when users are looking at individual forum topics, flag friend, and user points.

Mars game D6 1.x
Custom style and icons with dark grey background and rusty red text.

Big Game Hunt D6 2.x
Brown and light grey style. Custom icons. Looks to be using Taxonomy Image. High volume.

Wrath Guild D6 2.x
Heavily customized style in light grey and red with custom icons.

Cloud D6 1.x
Simple blue and white style with some custom icons.

Eat 3D D6 1.x
Dark grey style with custom icons.

Microsoft Office 2010 Forums D6 2.x
Simple grey forum not heavily styled but has a neat feature where you click an arrow to preview the forum post right from the topic list.

Mobile Broadband Rocks D6 2.x
Simple grey style but has custom icons.

Big names

Some of these are customized, some not, but it's always cool when a famous site uses your module...
Grateful Dead D6 1.x (Custom icons, brown style)
The Flaming Lips D6 1.x (Bright blue and yellow style)
PBS D6 1.x
Intel D6 1.x (Custom icons)
Nvidia D6 1.x (Green and grey with custom icons)
Ubercart D6 1.x (Orange and grey, not very customized)
Prose Point D6 1.x (Grey, not very customized)
Libre Office support forum D6 1.x (Green and blue. Looks like using icons from AFMS.)

Want yours here?

If you have a site you'd like to be considered for inclusion, leave a comment with the link to the forums, the version of AF, and a short description to let people know what's special about it. Please don't leave sites that are just one of the included styles with nothing customized unless it's a big name site or a very high volume site. There are over ten thousand sites using Advanced Forum and I'm only going to include ones here that really show off the module.

Hi,

Here is an AF theme that I came up with for Haiku Iberoamérica, a website recently opened by the Spanish-speaking Haiku community for users, developers and fans of the Haiku operating system:

http://haiku-es.org/forum

This is a modified version of Blue Lagoon, themed after the Shijin web design used in the Haiku website (which I also created and can be seen at http://haiku-os.org).

Hope you like it!

Hi
We're using Advanced Forum 7.x-2.0-alpha1 on Drupal 7.0 core in conjunction with Flare Action Script Library to create a data visualization view of the Forum. The site is for the Department of Education and Early Children Development, Victoria, Australia and is still in early days yet. As such the current visualization is based on the Victorian Education Learning Standards categories and has some "growing" to do, but a visit to the site and a hit at the visualization will give you the idea.

ChrisMartenson.com is a fairly high traffic website that belongs to Chris Martenson.

Once the Vice President of a large, international Fortune 300 company, and with a background in research science, he left this highly-paid job in order to focus on his family, sustainable living, and to promote the ideas contained within his Crash Course DVD series and book.

He is an international speaker and has been interviewed on several TV and radio news channels (including PBS) and published in esteemed science journals such as Nature.

He is probably best known for predicting and warning people about the 2008 global financial crisis several years before it happened (while many others were dismissing the idea as nonsense) and for his Crash Course DVD series and book which cover pertinent topics relating to the economy, (peak) energy and the environment in a non-political, non-partisan way and what we can personally do to prepare for the upcoming global changes in these three areas.

The entire video series is available to view and download for free on his website (which is pretty cool in my eyes - the videos are very eye-opening too).

The website's forums use Advanced Forum and several supporting modules. I am not sure of the version or if it is particularly customized but they are very busy and interesting with topics mostly discussions about the above subject areas.

P.S. I'm not associated with the website other than being a forum member and fan of the videos. Thanks.

This is a really great example of the power of Drupal as an entire social platform - the forums are integrated really well.

It is now http://www.peakprosperity.com, if anyone is confused.

I may go ahead and give AF a try after seeing this forum... looks really good. I've been fooling around with SMF, PHPBB etc but the whole "bridge to Drupal" etc. business is a whole project in itself.

I wish I rode so I could post to your forum, but I don't. I did do computer stuff for Acerbis (acerbis.com) for years, though, so I'm kinda familiar with the lingo and all. Expensive plastic stuff but people seemed to like it for the most part.

Anyway great forum, thanks for posting.
