While clicking around on the beta site, I selected the "Commits" tab on the home page, viewed a commit and returned to the home page by clicking the back button in my browser. It annoyed me that the block had defaulted back to the News tab, and I think it would be nice if we can save the active state somehow.

I see two options: cookie or url fragment. A cookie would save the active tab in all cases, also for the next visit or when returning to the home page by clicking the Drupal logo. A url fragment (drupal.org/#commits) would only work when going back in the browser history.

What do you think?

Moving to the Webmasters queue for additional comments/ feedback. If others agree, we can move to customizations for implementation.

The site's live now. This seems the place to be discussing this. It's actively a problem on the live site.

That being said, it's a pretty minimal problem.

Considering that no one has chimed in with a "+1 Yes I want this!" type of comment in more than 3 years, I think we should call this "won't fix" and spend our time on other issues.

Sure. It can always be re-opened.
