I have been using admin menu on a dev site for about two years through several versions, and many versions and updates of other modules. Over time, my menu seems like it has become corrupted or damaged, there are items missing (only 2 Reports) and the order is not the norm. Is there a way to "reset" the menu?

Passer commentedIf You click the rebuild link in the Admin-Menu Settings, every entry will be rebuild by Module-Definitions.
Unfortunatelly this overrides manually disabled Menu-Items

gidgetk commentedWhere precisely is the rebuild link? I am at admin/settings/admin_menu and don't see that option anywhere.

Passer commentedSorry, I didnt read that you are using the dev-version.
The dev-Versiondoesnt have this function

bwv commentedI had the same problem (corrupt menu). I uninstalled the version I was using (6.x-3.0-alpha4), installed the 6.x-1.6, used the "wipe and rebuild" feature (which reset all the menus properly), then uninstalled 6.x-1.6 and reinstalled the 6.x-3.0-alpha4 version, and now things are back to where they were, all corrupted menu items fixed.

flyboynomad commentedBest solution is to disable your admin menu and enable it
However make sure your site is offline and theme to garland.
Rest would be back to normal once you run the update :D

verta commentedJust thought I'd make this a feature request. Is there some doc somewhere explaining why this was dropped?
flyboynomad commentedIts simple follow the instructions
Put you website to offline
theme to garland
list modules and then disable the admin_menu
run update.php
flush all cache after update.
once you get the menu back - enable the module, run the update.php
change your theme to your old theme and put your site online. :D
Good luck

verta commentedThanks for the procedure. I am looking for something I can do that does not taking the site offline, as that has an impact on my users.

ratioswitch commentedI too am having strange issues with the update from the alpha3 version to of admin_menu to alpha4 (FYI: admin_menu-6.x-3.0-alpha4 on a 6.19 production installation). This is after taking my site offline, following all aforementioned instructions (ex.: update, flush, disable module, update again, flush again, re-enable, manually run cron, update/review permissions, etc. ...).
In my case, the admin_menu is active however, the only menu option I see in the admin menu is The Drupal icon, Advanced Help, Example Help, and Help.
I was able to restore my admin_menu by reverting back to alpha3 but this issue also surfaces on my other d6 sites that use the admin_menu.
This is merely a heads up/FYI to assist the developer(s) in addressing issues like this.
Thanks,
_rs

ErikU commentedWhat I did was goto the site logo on the Admin menu (far left) > Flush all Caches > Administration Menu; this fixed the menu for me. For some reason just clicking flush all caches or /admin/settings/performance > Clear cached data didn't work.

sunThere's a patch for this over in #863092: Scrambled admin menu structure after using admin menu -> Flush all caches -> administration menu

ken hawkins commentedJust a quick chime in to note that nothing short of the solution in #4 by @bwv worked for me: Uninstall 3.x, install 1.6, then back to 3.x.
