I would like to set up QuickTabs inside QuickTabs for our newspaper site. Here's the scenario:
Each major section of the site (News, Sports, Life, Opinion, and Magazine) is divided into subsections. For example, Sports has subsections of Local sports, Pro sports, College sports, and High school sports.
I have set up QuickTabs for each section (News, Sports, Life, Opinion, and Magazine) so that the tabs display the headlines for each subsection (e.g., Local sports, College sports, Pro sports, High school sports).
I want to place the section QuickTabs inside a "master" QuickTabs block, so that people can click on a tab for the major section they want to view (News, Sports, etc.), then click on another tab to view a subsection (e.g., High school sports).
But I haven't been able to find any documentation on how to insert QuickTabs into QuickTabs. When I create the "master" QuickTab block, I click on the radio button for "QTab", and it gives me a field requesting the "quicktab ID". If I try to put in the name of each QuickTab block, the names of some of the blocks are too long; I can only type in 10 characters.
Some instructions on how to make this work would be greatly appreciated.

sourish20 commentedHi Katrina ,
For the time being you can solve your issue by reducing your machine readable name(a.k.a ID) to less than 10 characters. I know you will not be able to edit your machine readable name in your existing Quick Tab....so just clone it up and do make sure that this time your machine readable name is less than 10 characters. And then you can provide the id in the QTab field. It will work.
Thanks.
Please do close the issue after it is solved.

Katrina B commentedActually, I went ahead and switched to the 6.x-3.x-dev version; works great!

oxydog commentedOpen QuickTabs on new page
Sorry to re-open this issue, but I have a requirement to achieve the opposite. I have a QuickTabs instance with a couple of tabs, some of which are also QuickTabs instances. Unlike Katrina, I would like these other QuickTabs instances to open on a new page, and not inside the current instance. Is this at all possible?
Thanks in advance,
Jarus

no sssweat commentedIt's not possible with quick tab. The purpose of quick tab is to not open a new page.
Here is a workaround:
You could make a fake quick tab image. Add a custom block, give it a div tag, then with CSS place it next to the other quick tabs and make it so when people click on it, it opens on a new page.
