Is the dev code stable? If so, how come there hasn't be an update to the alpha in more than a year?

I just want to understand the status of this project and if it is going to be supported moving forward. I see development being done but no releases which is confusing. I'd like to use this for a couple high traffic sites but I'm hesitant to do so if the code isn't solid enough to be released.

Does anyone have insight into this module?
