While some functionality is necessarily tied to the Managing News codebase, selected features are broadly applicable and would look to be fairly easily generalized. These include:

1. Custom OpenLayers behaviours.
2. World map OpenLayers presets, styles, and layers.
3. Automatic tagging (using Extractor).
4. Geotaggging, including displays.

I've opened an issue on the Debut features set: #945214: Candidate Debut feature: debut_geotagging, built on geotaxonomy.

Might there be interest in potentially moving selected MN features to standalone Debut features (or other standalone features)?
