What is you thinking about #760176: Add Kurdish (Unified) language to l.d.o, how is this different?

The discussion is endless. As you know the lack of a Kurdish political boundaries, etc, etc ...

Anyhow, the provided translation by Kurditgroup.org is the same as used by Google as official Kurdish:
http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=ku

This form of Kurdish is one of the two official languages of Iraq and used from primary school till university.
It is the official form of Kurdish used by http://krg.org/ Kurdistan Regional Government.

Kurditgroup.org is the first Drupal website, and many of our visitors want to use our translation.

Can you specify if any of these can be considered prior-art to your work (in other words there is work you can continue and this is not about starting from sratch). There seem to be various Kurdish initiatives here, and it would be bad to fragment even further.

Dear Gabor,

http://drupal.org/project/ku_ckb is my very first initiative, even though, I did not agree with ckb suffix.

Our translation http://translate.dengubas.com/ is already above 30% which is almost good enough and our team is actively translating.

The sad reality is that this form of Kurdish is the only standard/official Kurdish in the world. And the 2nd official language of Iraq. (I don't want to go back to the discussion about Unified Kurdish or any other science-fiction scenario).

To make things workable, I really don't care no more how you call it, and which lang-code you use. And let us don't be so strict and show some flexibility.

At the end of the day it is just a translation of a CMS/Framework and if you don't agree please remove our request.

This is the misery of a nation mirrored in translating a CMS.

Oh, I fully agree to set this up, I was just looking for agreement from your side on which variant to start off. Looks like there'd be not enough volunteers to work on multiple variants. Anyway, happy to hear you are making good progress. I'd be happy to add Kurdish to localize.drupal.org and make you the maintainer, that would mean you should close your existing workplace and import your work to localize.drupal.org, and only accept new contributions on localize.drupal.org from then on. Are you on board with that? Thanks!

Perfect, I've created the team at http://localize.drupal.org/languages/ku and made @bardaqani the initial owner / admin. You can add any number of other admins and manage group level permissions of people.

Please report issues as you find them! Your team members can now join and help import existing translations and work on more translations. Anybody can sign up for being a member of the team and they will be able to submit suggestions right away. The initial admin can change permissions of people signing up, widening their capabilities. See http://localize.drupal.org/node/616 for explanation on how. It is highly suggested to grant both moderation permissions to those who you also designate admins.

Ps. I've set "nplurals=2; plural=(n!= 1)" as the plural formula for the language. Let me know *before* migrating the existing translations if that is not right. Got the data from http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/l10n/pluralforms#k

Dear Gabor,

- The plural formula is good.
- While reading Kurdish/Arabic/Farsi on the localization server, the letters are not-joined. This is due to the used font-family. Replacing 'Lucida Grande' with 'Dejavu Sans' can help. I can imagine that this is a part of Bluecheese.
- Where to create a release?

- Hum, Dejavu Sans... not sure what to do with this request. No other translation team requested a specific font to be used. Also, is Dejavu Sans commonplace within your translation/language community?
