Man, I hope this isn't a "read the FAQ" question, but here goes:

1) I wanted to get the structure and theme of the new Drupal.org to kick it around a bit. I _understand_ there is brand protection going on, so I'd be delighted if it was in bright pink and fuzzy typography. I'm just trying to grok the template (I'm betting it's no longer related to Friends Electric)

2) I tried reading FAQ (http://drupal.org/node/202799#drupalorg), which linked me to the redesign page (http://drupal.org/community-initiatives/redesign), which doesn't help illuminate what the new d.o is using for modules, etc.

So, at the expense of asking a FAQ -- is this available somewhere in some fashion? Heck, I'd even be willing to update that section of the FAQ if I can get a d.o shell set up locally.

There is some more info on http://drupal.org/node/27367, but it has not yet been updated to the situation after the redesign. It clearly explains why the theme is not publicly available. The redesigned theme, called Bluecheese (http://drupal.org/project/bluecheese), is not available for download either.

I have not seen a list of modules used in the new drupal.org yet, but it may be out there somewhere. If there are specific elements you're interested in please ask. For instance, I do know that the map on the front page uses the HTML5 user geolocation (http://drupal.org/project/html5_user_geolocation) module.

For more specific info, you can also try to get in touch (eg. on IRC) with someone from the redesign implementation team (see http://groups.drupal.org/drupalorg-redesign-implementers).

In conclusion: I think you cannot (now, or in the future) download drupal.org as a whole and set up a local copy.

Actually, there is http://drupal.org/project/drupalorg_testing but i don't believe its been updated for the redesign.

And no, I don't think you'll ever be able to download the theme.
