I like the idea behind this module to be able to give editing access on personal basis, next to roles and groups.

As the latter is done by Node_Access to me it would be logically that this (additional) functionality gets into that module, also in the sake of lesser than 8000 modules that 99.9% never gets through and grouping functionality.

Of-course this module takes another approach and the coding is different, but if one starts with node access then auto reference is a welcome tool to it for many users. How often in the past I haven't had the thought of giving one or two acquaintances in whose field and research that subject is, access to a piece of info to make it better.

There are many modules that deal with Node access - I currently maintain at least 4 different ones that give access for different reasons, and there are dozens more out there. This one in particular takes an approach that is unique and requires particular attention from the maintainer.

There is a whole world of node access modules out there, that can work together to get the functionality you need for your site. There is no 'logical' reason that they should be in the same module, as you suggest.
