This is the dev release of the 6.x-1.x branch of Pathauto and is fairly "stable." If you are using this you might be better off with the latest "official release" from this branch like 6.x-1.1 or whatever is the most recent official release.
If you want to try out the crazy new code, try 6.x-2.x-dev but reall that's pretty crazy stuff.
