Following up on https://drupal.org/node/928092#comment-3627896, I propose as potentially useful to the community — as well as a means to help clean up Planet Drupal — to create a new aggregator category for Drupal job announcements.

Requirements would include:
* Dedicated feed (via specific taxonomy term, flag+views, or other effective method).
* Drupal-specific and/or Drupal-shop specific
* Adding of feeds is managed by webmasters
* Maybe: Demonstrated member/contributor of Drupal community

Some filtering is necessary, or this will become a big spam feed. But if done with modest curation of sources, this could be very beneficial all around.

I think the curation of what feeds to include would be hard-ish to do and could air some real fun dirty laundry.

We currently have a great source for this http://groups.drupal.org/jobs which has exposed filters and feeds. I'd rather improve that existing tool on g.d.o and perhaps feature it more prominently on d.o rather than create an alternate feed.

Agreed that we have the jobs listings on groups, and we should improve on that instead of setting up a duplicate service on drupal.org.

It would be good if the job content type on g.d.o had more options to sort on such as 'position type' (themer, designer, project manager etc) and some kind of location information other than being able to select from the group.

I think that would make the job listings more accessible to non-Drupal folks who aren't familiar with how the groups. While we want to encourage people who apply to these jobs to already be a part of the Drupal community where possible, it is not just job seekers who look at this list. It is also a space to show off the economy around Drupal so think it is worth putting a little work in to make it more accessible.

Part of me reads this as, "Or we could terraform Mars." The job posts on g.d.o are so spam-like, they have driven me (and I suspect many members) away from g.d.o for all but a very select subset of activities. But if there's real effort in changing this, it's clear that g.d.o/jobs would have more potential control over content than a blunt instrument like aggregation.

So I am going to close this issue. Alex or someone else can reopen if they feel strongly about this. Otherwise effort can go into https://drupal.org/node/954674.

There is definitely real effort if/when the jobs/events portion of the redesign lands and/or other plans are being made.
