Hi there,

Just showing my pet-project website www.mrinterface.com which has been 'live' for some time now. Pulled almost over 3000 unique visitors in that time so I must be doing something right ;-)

I looked at other implementations( f.i. Joomla ) but somehow Drupal suited me perfectly for this project.

I also get a lot of spam from ( for instance ) a.b.s.bla.bla.bla.bla.bla.d.f.s.b.c.v@gmail.com and am still looking into how to auto IP ban them. There must be people somewhere in Asia having nothing else to do than to enlist on drupal sites and once enlisted post spam.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Regards.

In depth defense against spammers

There is no single defense against spammers. For example, blocked IPs can be bypassed with IP spoofs and multiple accounts. CAPTCHA can be bypassed by clever spambots and human spammers. Check out the available anti-spam tools and develop an in depth defense. Get to know your spammers' tactics, which will change over time. If you have trusted users, let them help with reporting spam.

Take a balanced approach to minimize inconvenience to legitimate users. For example, if you use Mollom, give your users a way to report problems and hassles, because Mollom occasionally blocks legitimate comments and frequently challenges comments that look suspicious with CAPTCHA.

A member of Seattle Drupal User Group provided this case study for controlling spam:

Each situation is different.
