This was an area I thought I was not a newbie in anymore. I have upgraded many modules for a year now and now something new!

I have many modules which need updating and when I upload them as I always have to sites/all/modules the files don't extract properly.
eg:

image-6.x-1.0.tar (2).gz
File Type: image-6.x-1.0.tar (2).gz: POSIX tar archive

SCALAR(0x1708570)gzip: image-6.x-1.0.tar (2).gz: not in gzip format
SCALAR(0x1708570)

what's wrong? Please help thanks.

I tried now again to down load admin_menu-6.x-1.6.tar.gz but in the folder it is named with an extra gz on the end, so that it is actually gz.gz is that right?
