I think the features breakdown that are now tucked away in http://drupal.org/about and only accessible by the About link in the top right should somehow be brought to the Why Choose Drupal/Getting Started area on the home page.
I think the easiest and most effective improvement might be to add this line above the "Get Started with Drupal" button on the homepage (or as a new line at the end of of the Why Choose Drupal text):
Find out more about Drupal's [features and requirements].
Find out more [about Drupal].
Sorry if this is a duplicate issue. I searched.

drumm"Why Choose Drupal?" itself is a link to /about.

DaveNotik commentedIt is not intuitive that the title be a link and it is easily missed. Such an important page should be accessible, where now it's tucked away. A simple link or button, e.g. "About Drupal", above "Get Started..." would go a long way.
Anyhow, I don't personally care enough to push this anymore. Just looking out for first timers by noting my first impression of the redesigned homepage.
