Search block functionality in Drupal.org (new design)

I would like to implement the same block search functionality that is now available in the new drupal.org web site where the search results appear within the block and are similar to ajax results, no refresh on the page. Is that custom module for d.org or a contributed module that does that? Apache Solr? Is there a tutorial on this for themers?
